Thank you to our aquatic partners for taking precautions and staying safe during these unprecedented times. Remembering that COVID-19 is a serious virus and take into consideration safety for yourself and others around you. We as Jeff Ellis Management, take your facilities safety and the safety of any participants seriously. Please keep in mind that COVID-19 is transmitted through the air and not through water. Beginner Swim Class

Notice! Admission to the Mickeys Retreat facility requires an active WDPR cast member ID and is not available to the general public. A minimum of 3 students is required for a class to be held.

Participants in the Preschool Program must be at least 3 years of age.
Participants in the Beginner Program must be at least 5 years of age.

This class is for the beginner swimmer and requires no prior experience. Skills taught in this level include front and back floats, front and back glides, elementary backstroke, front crawl, backstroke, and pool safety. Some of the requirements to pass this level are that the student must swim 25 yards of front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke.

Mickeys Retreat Swim Class FAQ

  1. What should we bring? Your child will need a bathing suit and a towel for each lesson. Goggles are permitted, if desired.
  2. How long are the classes? Classes run for 45 minutes.
  3. Is there a lifeguard on duty during lessons? Yes, there is always a lifeguard on duty during lessons.
  4. Is there a deadline to register for swim lessons? Yes. Generally, the Friday before the lesson starts is the deadline for registration.
  5. If my child passes to the next level, but I've already registered him/her for the same level, what should I do? We will do our best to accommodate any movement between levels.
  6. What happens if I've registered my child for the incorrect level? We do evaluate each child the fist day of lessons to ensure that they have been placed in the correct level. We will do our best to move them to the appropriate level if necessary, but please feel free to contact us prior to registering and we can help you decide what level your child be placed in.
  7. Do I have to stay and watch lessons? Yes, we ask that you do stay and watch lessons.
  8. Where do I sit during lessons? We encourage all of our parents to observe swim lesson from the chairs but ask that you please refrain from talking to your child poolside during the lessons, as this poses a distraction to the class. Instructors will be available before and after class to answer any questions.
  9. What happens if I miss a class? We will provide make-up classes if we have to cancel the class typically due to weather.
  10. Will my child have the same instructor for every session? Due to instructors' personal schedules and the constantly changing enrollment, we cannot guarantee class schedules in advance. You are more than welcome to request an instructor. However, we cannot guarantee every request.
  11. What happens if there is bad weather? If there is bad weather we will call you to cancel lessons as soon as we know. The lesson will either be made up by adding time to remaining classes or by adding a make-up day.
