Swimming and Aquatic Program Information
Learning how to swim is the first step to a lifetime enjoyment of swimming in a pool or ocean. Our highly trained and certified swim instructors are relentless in teaching your children the swimming skills that build self-confidence in and out of the water. Children are delighted when they learn how to swim and we love being a part of their accomplishment.
Water Exploration & Safety
This class is an introduction to water safety and basic water skills for both parent and child. It is not a swim lesson and parents should adjust their expectations appropriately. The Water Exploration and Safety class is meant to allow the child to explore the water in a supervised and fun environment with the guidance of the instructor and parent.
Preschool + Parent
The objective of our Preschool + Parent swim class is to help students feel comfortable in the water while mom or dad is at their side. Students will learn elementary water skills that they can build on as they progress through the various swim levels. We introduce the WaterSmart Rules that are encouraged by Sophie the Safety Seal — our very own mascot for the Jeff Ellis Swimming Program.
I'm a Big Kid Now!
The purpose of this class is to help students feel comfortable in the water without the presence or mom or dad. Students continue to learn elementary water skills and safety tips that will stay with them throughout all swim lesson levels. Sophie the Safety Seal’s WaterSmart Rules are reinforced for increased aquatic safety.
The Beginner class builds on elementary water skills previously learned and teaches students the skills needed to complete a 25-yard swim for each of the following: Elementary Backstroke, Front Crawl, and Backstroke. All elementary water skills are reinforced so that they become second nature to the students. All water safety rules are discussed as well.
The Advanced Beginner class teaches students how to master stroke development and requires them to complete 50-yard swims of Elementary Backstroke and basic Backstroke. Students are also asked to complete 25-yard swims of the Breaststroke and Front Crawl with rhythmical breathing. We introduce Scissor Kick and Sidestroke at this swim level too.
The Intermediate class strengthens students' coordination of key strokes. They are asked to complete 50 yards of Front Crawl with rhythmically breathing, 75 yards of Backstroke, 50 yards of Breaststroke, 50 yards of Sidestroke, 75 yards of Elementary Backstroke, and 25 yards of Butterfly. We introduce the Sidestroke, Butterfly and the act of treading water at this level.
The Advanced class polishes strokes so students swim with more ease, power and smoothness over greater distances. At this level, swimmers should be able to complete 100 yards of Front Crawl with Rhythmical Breathing, 100 yards of Backstroke, 100 yards of Breaststroke, 100 yards of Sidestroke, 100 yards of Elementary Backstroke, 50 yards of Butterfly, and three minutes of treading water.
Learn to Swim. It's never too late!
Basic swimming and self rescue skills are taught in an environment that is within your comfort zone. The class size is designed to be small so that every swimmer gets the attention needed to achieve swimming goals.
Stay in shape!
Water Aerobics is a great way to have fun and stay in shape at the same time. Exercise outside of the pool is damaging to joints, but our Water Aerobics classes eliminate that risk. With the help of our qualified instructors you'll be able to build strength, burn calories and become more flexible.
Start training early!
If you're between the age of 10 and 14 then you're eligible for our Junior Lifeguard program. The course covers rescue techniques, first aid, aquatic safety, and emergency equipment like lifesavers. The lessons we teach Junior Lifeguards stay with them forever and go a long way if they wish to continue pursuing the life of a lifeguard.
Water Safety Seminars
Designed for kids between the ages of 3 to 10, this course gives children and parents guidelines to ensure pool safety not only at the aquatic facility, but at home as well. The course is taught by a licensed lifeguard.
Senior Water Aerobics
Low imapct workouts
Our low impact water aerobics classes are friendly on the joints and decrease the development of osteoporosis. Each class encourages exercise by combining buoyancy and core strength training. It's the perfect opportunity for seniors to work out with friends and have fun at the same time!
Heat up the pool party!
Jump into the Latin-inspired and easy-to-follow dance fitness party that makes working out a splash! This class is one of our highest calorie-burning classes that we offer.
Adult Lap Swim
Improve your quality of life!
The simple act of swimming is an exercise on its own. Swimming is proven to increase muscle tone and improve flexibility. It will help you lose weight and will give you a healthier heart. We provide kick boards and pull buoys at your convenience.
